The Announcement

This week's hike is a relatively easy hike. We'll be doing the Picchetti Winery loop hike.

This would be the upper end of easy. We'd hike from the Stevens Canyon trail head up through Bear Meadow to Picchetti Winery (see http://www.picchetti.com). There is a jazz band that plays from 1 to 4 ("Big Rain" this week), so we'd leave here at about 12:30, start the hike at about 12:45-ish, and arrive at the winery about 1:30-ish-ish. We'd sample some wine, listen to jazz for a half hour or so, and head back on nearly the same route.

If you've never done this hike, it is a gradual climb almost all the way to the winery, with one short steep section (well, 2 or 3 different ways to do the steep section). The short steep section is STEEP. You are fairly warned. We normally make this a much longer hike by coming back along the Zinfandel Trail, but this week we'd keep it short. Afterwards, Kathy and I may go out and kill some hay bales with our arrows.
