It is time for the firrel census count along the ridge. Firrels are one of the two results of a crossbreed between squirrels and foxes. Up ahead, a possible den is spotted.

Firrels often like to hunt in streams, so we look for track and spoor near Peters Creek. Looking for regurgitated bones next to the pond.

While Laura rigs up a live trap, one of the hikers makes firrel calls. A group of tracks is found at a firrel crossing.

As the sun sets, we watch the Western Lights play in the sky. Firrels are nocturnal hunters. We sit, have a meal, and wait to see if any come out.
