The announcement
Next Sunday we’re going to ignore the drought we’re having and head up to Uvas Canyon behind Morgan Hill. Even if the falls aren’t spectacular, they’re usually pretty darn nice. In a wet season, they’re about the best falls for quite a distance around, except for BIg Basin of course. We leave here at 9 and begin the hike just before 10. Plan on about 2.5 to 3 hours of hiking all under cover. We’re not going to do the mountain goat climb that Kristen did there, we’ll just hike up the stream, then around the side of the mountain, over to Triple Talls (which is usually more like Dribbling Rock Face) and back. Snacks on the trail, and a restaurant afterwards.

The hike
The Uvas Reservoir was essentially totally empty. And the Lexington and Stevens Creek reservoirs are very close to empty as well. It was no surprise, then, that the waterfalls at Uvas were very low. Triple Falls, usually not much better than Triple Dribble in the best of years was more like Triple Wet Spot. Still, what nature doesn’t provide, our friends do. It was a heck of a lot of fun, and we followed it by a really great time at the Big Bear restaurant in Gilroy.
