This Sunday we’re doing a “third time is a charm” hike and pot luck picnic in Portola Redwoods. We leave here at 9, start the hike at about 9:45 or 10, climb up to the ridgeline, scope out the Tarwater Trail for thimble berries, check out the lower plains for huckleberries, and eat lunch at one of the picnic tables.
Put me down for potato salad (potatoe salad if you’re from Indiana).
What a great picnic we had last week! Ron has made available a couple of pictures at
and Ron finally fell for FOMFOK. Ok, you had to be there, I guess. The look on Ron’s face was priceless, though. As usual, I never think to take a picture until after the event is over.
Remember that sharp ridgeline we crossed with all the black raspberries? Well, I got my first case of poison oak because of it—just a small bit on my ankle. I also liked the lecture the docent gave during the picnic about the birds and why we should not feed them. Mmmm. I’m still thinking of the picnic and all the great food. And Donna’s retelling of how she was almost killed the day before as she went to join us on a Kayak adventure when a tree fell on the road just as she drove under it.
