Sunday, February 15, 2004 Grant Ranch

Rating:

Wimble Scale: Moderate, Length: 5.4 miles, Climb: 800 feet, Time: 2.5 hours

The Announcement

We'll be doing the long Grant Ranch hike (jawbone trail) that we talked about a few weeks ago, but changed due to weather. The last (only) time we did this was just over a year ago. See:

http://www.webself.com/~fomfok/FOMFOK2003/2003.01.25/20030125.html

The climb is mostly in the beginning, over the first 2 miles to the scenic overlook. Then it undulates for another mile or so before the descent to the flats.

The trail is almost totally exposed, so make sure you have your sun block on. We'll do lunch at the scenic outlook. You might want to keep together to intimidate any herds of wild boar in the area. Sneakers are probably OK, but the trail may be soggy in parts.

We leave here at 9 and begin the hike at about 10.

The Hike

We changed the hike at the last minute to do a somewhat shorter trail.
