Saturday, August 23, 2003 Portola Redwoods State Park

Rating:

Wimble Scale: Moderate, Length: 5.2 miles, Climb: 700 feet, Time: 3 hours

The Announcement

We'll do Portola State Park, with picnic afterwards. We leave here at 9, and start the hike a bit after 10. We'll see if we can find the mysterious, hidden trail head that we always miss, and do the loop around the old/big tree. If not, we'll do the Steve Sterns option instead, and climb until our noses bleed.

If we do the loop, plan on 3 hours of mostly easy hiking, with a couple of moderate sections. This is almost all covered. The trails are usually in pretty good condition. The picnic area is covered. As usual, bring food and drink for yourself, and, if you feel like it, bring a little something else to share at the picnic.
